The Effect of Child Birth Education of Labour and Delivery


Abstract
The purpose of this study was to test effect of childbirth education about reducing anxiety level, reducing perception of pain, level of stability in delivery process, shortness of labour.
102 nuliparaous women registered after 38 gestation weeks at antenatal clinic of the Il Sin Christian Hospital in Pusan.
Thease women were divided into two groups of 51 each with one as the experimental group who were given the programmed child birth education by Nurse-midwife and the others as control group. Data were collected from January 16 to April 30, 1993,
through
questionnaire, observation and interview.
@ES The results were as follows;
@EN The level of anxiety were significantly lower in the experimental group than control group after child birth education(P<0.05) even though the level of anxiety at impending labour was significantly increas than that was in 38 gestation weeks
in
both
group(P<0.01).
The mean score of degree of labour pain by Melzack's scale and Graphic rating scale, Jacox pain clor scale in Experimental groups were less than that of control and there were significant differences (P<0.05, P<0.01). but physiological and
behavioral
measure of labour pain were no significant differences (P<0.01).
The cooperation, breathing and pushing technique in experimental group were better than control groups and there were significant differences.
The mean time of the first and second stage of labour for the experimental group were shorter than that control group, but no significant differences.
Within 24 hours, primary postpartum hemorrage was no significant differences between experimental and control group.
